Emerging Technologies offer many opportunities to educational actors to consider the preferences and needs of all students offering multiples means of action, expression and students engagements. Game-based learning and Joyful Learning strategies are becoming increasingly relevant to benefice learning experience of students in formal or informal educational settings. Recent studies give evidence of their impact to improve students learning gains, increase level of motivation, and stimulate peers collaboration, among other important issues. As well barriers have been detected in the adoption of Emerging Technologies support for Game-based and Joyful Learning, for instance, the potential of this technologies to decrease level of attention of students, or the appearance of wrong social attitudes in gamers due to the technology use or abuse.

Emerging Technologies Support for Game-based and Joyful Learning aims to form a forum for presentation and discussion of new trends for overcoming the barriers and exploiting the full potential of Emerging Technologies Support for Game-based and Joyful Learning.
